Seven instruments. One philosophy.
ELZN/AUDIO
Editorial
brutalism
for sound.
We build the tools we couldn't buy. Hard borders, deliberate negative space, no decoration without purpose, and DSP that tells the truth.
Function
first.
Every visual element serves the engineer's workflow. Compression is a depth map. Equalization is a painted curve. Every parameter has a visualization.
Honest
materials.
No skeuomorphism, no fake knobs, no leather textures. We show the digital truth, designed like a publication, not a museum of vintage hardware.
Learn one.
Know them all.
Every instrument shares one personality. If you know COMP/X, you are immediately at home in EQ/X. Visual consistency is not a constraint, it is the product.
The Instruments

signal chain.

From the founder
"I didn't start a company. I furnished a laboratory. Every tool here exists because I needed it, and nobody sold it."
Why we built it
[ LAB LOG ]The night before a deadline.
A mix due at nine. The limiter wanted a manual, the EQ wanted a subscription, the reverb wanted faith. We wanted the truth. EQ/X started that night, as a sketch on the back of a cue sheet.
If it doesn't change the sound, it leaves.
Every knob has to earn its place. No skeuomorphic leather, no 400-page manuals, no "vibe" controls. Typography first, DSP second, marketing never, the rule every instrument is measured against.
Every gap in the chain becomes an instrument.
Compression with four real circuits. Concert halls with real RT60s. Saturation you can measure. Each tool drawn as a poster before a single line of code, then built until the meters agree.
Seven instruments. One language.
First cut to final master, including the conductor's hand. And because we have nothing to hide: this site runs the real prototypes. What you played with up there is what you get.
Under the hood
[ NO MAGIC, MATH ]Pretty is not enough. Underneath the print design sits laboratory-grade engineering, the parts you don't see, measured anyway.
64-bit float, end to end
Every filter, every gain stage, every meter computes in double precision. No hidden clipping, no quantisation fog, what the curve shows is what the math does.
Oversampled detectors
LIMIT/X reconstructs inter-sample peaks at 4× before they reach your converter. Streaming-legal loudness without guessing, EBU R128 wired into the core.
Lock-free audio threads
The UI never touches the audio path. Sequence-checked messaging, zero allocations per block, watchdogs on every input, a dropout is a bug, not a mood.
The same meters everywhere
The analyzer in SCAN/X is the analyzer in every other tool. One LUFS, one true-peak, one correlation, learn the language once, trust it across the suite.
Convinced? Take the lab home.

Why ELZN
Designed like print. Built like a tank.
Every ELZN instrument is drawn before it is coded, typography first, DSP second, marketing never. The result is a suite that looks like a Swiss poster and measures like a laboratory instrument. Lock-free audio threads, oversampled detectors, UTF-8 in every corner.
