01, The problem

Distortion is
a dice roll.

One drive knob, one hope. What actually happens in the overtone spectrum, nobody tells you.

01, The problem

'Warm' is not
a number.

Saturation gets sold in feelings. But mixing is a craft that runs on measurements.

02, The idea

Circuits,
not presets.

TAPE, TUBE, TRANSFORMER, CONSOLE, DIODE, five modelled electronics with bias, hysteresis and real saturation physics.

03, The split

Saturate where
it helps.

Multiband: drag a crossover into place, drag each band's drive. Tape on the lows, console on the mids, the highs stay untouched.

04, The result

Harmonics
on purpose.

THD, 2nd and 3rd as numbers, always in view, colouration becomes a decision, not an accident.

How it works

[ THREE MOVES ]
01
Circuit

Choose your harm.

TAPE, TUBE, TRANSFORMER, CONSOLE or DIODE, five circuits, five overtone worlds. Each one is its own transfer curve, its own bias behaviour, its own way of breaking. Pick the failure you want.

02
Split

Go multiband when it matters.

Drag a crossover into place, then drag each band's drive straight on the display. Saturation lands only where it helps, tape on the lows doesn't have to cost you the air on top.

03
Measure

Watch the overtones.

THD, 2nd and 3rd harmonic, live, in numbers. Colouration here is a measurement, not a feeling; when two circuits sound close, the readout settles the argument.

Engineered harmonics

Distortion with a datasheet.

Bias, hysteresis, pre- and de-emphasis, envelope-follow drive, the physics that makes analog circuits misbehave, modelled and put under digital control. Oversampled stages keep the aliasing out, so what you add is harmonics, not artifacts.

Signal path

Split. Saturate. Sum.

Pre-emphasis shapes what the circuit gets to chew on, the circuit core does its damage per band, and de-emphasis restores the balance on the way out. Three bands, one rule: distortion is placed, never spilled.

00, Live

This is the real SAT/X.

Not a render, not a mockup, the actual prototype, running live in your browser. Keep scrolling and we'll take it apart, circuit by circuit.

01, Circuits

Five flavours of harm.

TAPE, TUBE, TRANSFORMER, CONSOLE, DIODE, each circuit is its own transfer curve and its own overtone world. Right beside them, the SINGLE/MULTIBAND switch decides whether you push the whole signal or split it first.

02, Harmonics

Watch the overtones grow.

Harmonics bars, transfer curve, scope and spectrum, the damage, drawn in real time. In multiband mode this becomes the editor: drag a band for drive, drag a line for the crossover.

03, Readouts

THD in numbers.

Drive, THD, 2nd and 3rd harmonic, output, the saturation as a measurement, not a feeling. When two circuits sound close, this strip tells you which one is lying.

04, Expert

Down to the bias.

Asymmetry, hysteresis, pre/de-emphasis, envelope-follow drive, wow/flutter, noise, eight sections deep into how the circuit misbehaves. Most people will never open it. You will know exactly why you did.

05, Drive

Drive, character, tone, mix.

The five main controls, everything you actually touch, day to day. In multiband mode they work per band, with a band tag on the label so you always know which slice you're pushing.

Signature features

[ EIGHT ]
01
Five circuits
TAPE, TUBE, TRANSFORMER, CONSOLE, DIODE, modelled transfer curves with real circuit physics, not five flavours of the same waveshaper.
02
Multiband split
Linkwitz-Riley crossovers you drag straight on the display, split where the material demands it, not where a preset decided.
03
Drag-to-drive
Pull a band up to drive it harder. The display is the editor, drive lives where the sound lives, not three menus away.
04
THD metering
THD, 2nd and 3rd harmonic as live numbers, saturation as a measurement. When two settings sound close, the readout settles the argument.
05
Bias and hysteresis
Asymmetry that favours even harmonics, hysteresis that remembers the last transient, the tape machine's memory, under your control.
06
Pre/de-emphasis
Pre-emphasis shapes what the circuit gets to chew on; de-emphasis rebalances on the way out. Colour without tilting the spectrum.
07
Env-follow drive
Saturation that follows the envelope, transients push the circuit harder, tails relax it. The drive breathes with the performance.
08
Oversampled core
Every saturation stage runs oversampled, so what you add is harmonics, not artifacts. No aliasing, even when DIODE goes full hard-clip.

Real workflows

[ USE CASES ]
01
Drum bus crunch
CONSOLE on the mid bands, lows and air untouched. The bus gets dense and forward, and the attack stays exactly where you left it.
02
Vocal silk
TUBE in single-band, drive kept low. A touch of 2nd harmonic, THD barely off zero, the vocal sits closer without sounding processed.
03
Bass anchor
TAPE on the low band only. The bottom rounds out, stays mono-solid and defined, and the rest of the spectrum never hears about it.
"Saturation used to be a feeling. Now it's a decision I can defend."

“Tape on the lows, console on the mids, leave the top alone. I've been chasing that drum sound for years and it was three clicks.”

“You just grab a band and pull it up to drive it harder. Why has nobody done it like this before?”
